Foaling season started early for Eleanor’s Arabians this year. Normally, Mark Coombs breeds the mares to begin foaling in March and finish up sometime in May. This is, of course, hardly an exact science. This year the merry dance of mares having their foals started just bit early with the first born on February 18th to Sheza Velvet Rose (Hesa Zee+/ x EAF Crown Rose by Crown Musc+). A bay filly, her sire is San Jacinto Jullyen V, a U.S. National Top Ten Western Pleasure Futurity winner that Eleanor purchased from Sheila Varian a few summers ago. Sheza Velvet Rose is Region 10 Champion Reining and is a full sister to Canadian National Top Ten Reining, Shez The One. The baby girl has a beautiful face and an elegant star. On March 10th Miss Muscana (Hesa Zee+/ x RV Muscana by Crown Musc+) gave birth to a flashy buckskin filly by the handsome Quarter Horse stallion Busy Winnin Chex (Nu Chex To Cash). Miss Muscana is a full sister to multi-National Top Ten Lady Muscana+, and to 5-time National Champion EAF Hesa Wizard+. Quarter Horse mare, Shiny Wranglers (Roosters Wrangler, NRHA Open Futurity Reserve Champion) presented her brand new bay Half-Arabian Hesa Zee+/ colt to the world on April 16th. Maternal grandsire, Roosters Wrangler is a son of the famous Gallo Del Cielo “Rooster” (Peppy San Badger x Docs Starlight), a 4-million dollar sire in the NRHA and NRCHA arenas.
The final foals of the 2019 season for Eleanor’s Arabians will all be sired by Hesa Zee+/. It’s been a banner year for this extraordinary son of Xenophonn who passed away in June of 2015. Several years after his death Hesa Zee+/ continues to be applauded as a great sire in Working Western. In 2018 he was again named Leading Sire in this division (posting twice as many winning get in the listings as his nearest competition). Noted Eleanor Hamilton broodmare, AM Capableclemmie (AM Double Dream x Almarah Demitasse), dam of 2018 U.S. National Champion Working Cow Junior Horse and Working Cow Horse Futurity, CMS Ladylove, and Sport Horse Top Ten, Al-Marah Lady Capulet++, delivered a splendid bay colt by Hesa Zee+/ on April 21st. And most recently, Paddy’s Nu Diamond (Paddys Irish Whiskey, an NRCHA All-Time Leading Sire and sire of offspring winning over 1.5 million), gave birth to a lovely bay filly by Hesa Zee+/ on April 28th.
The final foal awaited could be the crowning achievement of the entire 2019 season. It’s expected on May 26th from the outstanding Eleanor’s broodmare, CMS Centerfold (Crown Musc+ x Zee Cover Girl by Xenophonn). A daughter of multi-National Champion Cutting and Working Western legend, Xenophonn, its maternal grand dam Zee Cover Girl is also the dam of Zee Ricky Bobby (Paddys Irish Whiskey), 2-time U.S. Reserve National Champion and 5-time national Top Ten. CMS Centerfold’s 2018 black-bay colt by Hesa Zee+/, named Hesa Taylor Made, was one of the best of last year’s crop.
