The 2018 North Central Working Western Celebration Show celebrated its fifth annual event from September 7th through the 16th in Madison, Wisconsin. Horses from eight breeds competed for beautiful trophies, prizes and outstanding prize money. Eleanor’s Arabians and half-Arabians were there, as well as Eleanor’s top new Quarter horse stallion, Justa Genuine Jack, a Superior Heeling and Heading Roping Champion and terrific World Class sire of all-around great working western horses. Justa Genuine Jack and Eleanor hosted the Exhibitor’s BBQ Saturday Night.
Lance and Jodi Scheffel were there representing Eleanor’s working western horses and set up their own LRS Performance stabling on the show grounds too. Scheffel’s did extreme well with Eleanor’s hard working half-Arabians. EAF Little Whiz (Conquistador Whiz x Hezas Fire Fly by Hesa Zee+/) was the Champion Half-Arabian in the Reining Futurity, winning $1,200. He also took Champion honors in the Region 11 HA/AA Reining Jr Horse, Working Cow Jr Horse, Cutting Jr Horse, and the Region 10 HA/AA Ranch Riding (scoring 77.5). EAF Little Whiz was the winner of the WW Celebration Shoot-out. This trophy was awarded to the horse with the highest reining score among all the breeds competing at the Working Western Celebration Show I (the show’s first weekend). The breeds that competed were Arabians, Half-Arabians, Quarter Horses, Appaloosas, Paints, POA’s and Morgans. EAF Lil Red Corvete (CG Colonel Jac x Zees Princess) was Reserve Champion HA Reining Futurity, winning $800. He was also the Region 11 Reserve Champion HA/AA Working Cow Horse Jr Horse, Region 10 Champion HA/AA Ranch Riding Jr Horse and Reserve Champion HA/AA Ranch Riding. Another Eleanor star was Zee China Doll (Little Sorrel Peppy x Zee Mighty Doll) the Region 11 Champion HA/AA Reining Cow Horse. If you are thinking the competition was not national quality at the Celebration this year, think again! All three of these horses went on to win National Championships and Reserves at the 2018 U.S. National Championship Show in Tulsa just six weeks later! Congratulations to Lance Scheffel and Melvin Helmuth (EAF Lil Red Corvete) for a phenomenal job on these great Eleanor working western stars!
